We Are Forum Neue Kunst
Forum Neue Kunst e.V. was born in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, as a creative answer to the cultural standstill. Since then we have been connecting contemporary commissions, world premieres, and historical rediscoveries with unconventional performance spaces — from open-air stages and historic palaces to churches and urban spaces. Our program spans chamber opera, children's opera, international artist-in-residence programs, and the Münstermann Festival in Oldenburg. We bring together artists from across Europe and create a vibrant, accessible music theater for northwestern Germany.
New Opera
World premieres, contemporary commissions, and rare rediscoveries — from the region's first Low German crime opera to children's operas with music by Mozart and Cimarosa, to Baroque opera reconstructions.
International Voices
Through our Artist-in-Residence program, singers from across Europe come to Oldenburg for intensive creative residencies — rehearsing premieres, leading workshops, and performing alongside local artists.
Unexpected Stages
We bring opera out of the opera house — performing outdoors, in historic palaces, churches, urban spaces, and unconventional venues that become part of the storytelling.
