Nicholas Tamagna ist Neuoldenburger mit beruflicher und privater Affinität zum Kulturstandort Oldenburg. Für die kommende Spielzeit waren die Opern ‚Flight’ und ‚Rodelinda’ am Oldenburgischen Staatstheater fest terminiert, durch Corona jedoch wurden sie gestrichen. Nicholas Tamagna hat sich derweil auf die alternative Kulturszene der Stadt (u. a. ‚Die Loge‘; Kunstmuseum Oldenburg; Creative Mass; Hidden Art Project) konzentriert. Sein europäischer Schwerpunkt wird mittelfristig seine Arbeit in Oldenburg beeinflussen und er sieht Oldenburg als Basis für weitere europäische Projekte an.

Motivation zum Projekt:

„Ich sehe in dem Projekt enormes Potenzial, meine Erfahrungen als Counter-Tenor und international erfahrener Künstler an junge Sänger und Musiker weiterzugeben. Darüber hinaus bietet mir die Option, klassische Elemente in moderne Musik einbringen zu können, eine Möglichkeit, neue Wege für die Verbreitung von Opernthemen zu finden sowie neue Zielgruppen zu forcieren.“

Relationship to Oldenburg:

Nicholas Tamagna is a new official resident to Oldenburg with professional and private affinity to Oldenburg as a cultural location. The operas 'Flight' and 'Rodelinda' were scheduled for the coming season at the Oldenburg State Theater, but Corona unfortunately prevented them from happening. Nicholas Tamagna, meanwhile, has focused on the city's alternative cultural scene (including 'Die Loge'; Kunstmuseum Oldenburg; Creative Mass; Hidden Art Project). His European focus will influence his work in Oldenburg in the longterm, and he sees Oldenburg as a base for further European projects.

Motivation for the project:

"I see enormous potential in the project to pass on my experience as a counter-tenor and internationally experienced artist to young singers and musicians. In addition, the option of being able to bring more historically-informed performance elements into modern music offers me an opportunity to find new ways to create operatic works as well as to attract new audiences."
